Deborah Mathis came to the Public Justice Foundation in January 2007 as Communications Director. She was previously vice president of media and communications consultant for an Africa trade consulting firm and had provided strategic communications services to the Children’s Defense Fund, a Turkish media holding company, and the ACLU of Maryland.
For three decades, Deborah was a practicing journalist, having served as White House Correspondent for Gannett News Service, a nationally syndicated columnist and a regular contributor to various political talk shows. She held a Shorenstein Fellowship at Harvard University and was an assistant professor of journalism at Northwestern University.
