Tell Your Senator: Vote ‘No’ On Coal Lobbyist Andrew Wheeler
A climate change denier with close ties to the oil and gas industry currently leads the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Now, President Trump has nominated coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler to the second highest position at the EPA.
Call the Capitol switchboard now at (202) 224-3121 and tell your senators to vote ‘no’ on Wheeler. As the White House goes from bad to worse on environmental issues, we need you to stand up for clean air and clean water in American communities.
Andrew Wheeler represents coal companies, not American families. He has made his career fighting environmental protections that keep American families safe, including in lawsuits challenging the EPA. In fact, he was registered as a lobbyist for Murray Energy – the nation’s largest privately owned coal mining company – just two months before his nomination.
He is also closely aligned with climate change deniers, having served as counsel to U.S. Senator James Inhofe, who once brought a snowball to the Senate floor in a ridiculous attempt to discredit overwhelming scientific evidence behind climate change.
Call your senators today and tell them Andrew Wheeler does not belong in the EPA.
Wheeler’s nomination comes as EPA chief Scott Pruitt announces the repeal of a 2015 rule designed to cut greenhouse gas emissions and protect communities located near toxic coal ash sites. Coal companies and climate change deniers do not need more allies in the EPA.
We can stop Wheeler from helping Scott Pruitt decimate the environmental protections that we rely on to protect our air, water, and natural resources, as well as the health of our communities.
Dial the U.S. Capitol Switchboard today at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you to your senators’ offices.
Thank you for standing with us.
