Public Justice Statement on ICE Violence in Minneapolis

Public Justice’s statement on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) violence in Minneapolis:

“Over the course of the past few weeks, numerous tragedies have unfolded in Minnesota, including, but certainly not just limited to, the violent assault and killing of American citizens at the hands of ICE; the traumatic forced separation of immigrant families, including children who have been used as pawns in a cruel campaign meant to terrorize them and their loved ones; and the complete disregard of our country’s constitution and laws, whose guarantees of free speech and peaceable assembly have been thrown out the window. As advocates committed to the rule of law, we condemn these harmful and illegal actions. As human beings, we join our communities in Minnesota and across the country in demanding that this inhumane campaign of terror be stopped immediately.

In the midst of these great tragedies, we nonetheless find hope, resolve and decency in the work of allied organizations on the ground in Minnesota. Today, we thank those who are taking action and call on our community of supporters to join in their work to hold ICE accountable, protect the families who are living in constant fear for their safety and preserve our democracy. Now is also the time to call your elected leaders and insist on swift action that gets ICE off of America’s streets and ends the tax-payer subsidized violence that is threatening our communities, our neighbors and our loved ones.”
