Caitlin Power

Debtors' Prison Project Investigator

As the Debtors’ Prison Project Investigator Caitlin’s work focuses on building trusting relationships with clients and stakeholders as well as conducting research and analyzing data related to emerging or ongoing cases.

Caitlin received their master’s in education policy from Loyola University Chicago in 2022 where their research focused on youth organizing for police free schools. While at Loyola, Caitlin worked with the Illinois Prison Project to develop strong clemency petitions alongside incarcerated survivors of gender-based violence. Before joining Public Justice, Caitlin was a Policy Analyst with the Partnership for College Completion. At the Partnership they led the organization’s research on debt, predatory or fraudulent institutional and servicer behavior, and postsecondary access for system-impacted people and co-authored multiple mixed-methods studies examining racial and economic inequities in postsecondary access, affordability, and accountability in Illinois.

Before grad school, Caitlin was a line cook and still loves to make meals for their loved ones. They enjoy watching cartoons with their cat Lunchmeat, being outside, and building legos.
