Vice President of Operations
Leroy Hughes, Jr. joined Public Justice in March 2020. As Vice President, Operations, Leroy directs and provides oversight of Public Justice national operations, while ensuring the strategic development and implementation of efficient and cost-effective systems to meet the organization’s current and future business needs. This oversight directly includes key primary areas such as information and technology, office management as well as ancillary services supporting the organization’s east and west coast offices. Leroy’s responsibility also includes the oversight of procurement as well as the general administrative and business management needs of the organization where Public Justice employees are based nationwide.
Prior to joining Public Justice, Leroy was employed as a senior executive with various local and national non-profit organizations where he acquired over 25 years of experience providing executive level supervision of multi-site operations, including federal, state and locally funded human and social services projects supporting families and underserved communities. Leroy’s notable past employment included: Vice President, Operations, Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Director of Operations, National Cherry Blossom Festival, Chief Operating Officer, CBM National Inc., Executive Administrator, Padua Community Services, Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New Orleans and Support Director/Southern U.S. Regional Recruiter, Teach For America. Leroy earned his BA Degree from Louisiana State University and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy University. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
