Public Justice Statement in Support of the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act
Updated January 31, 2022
“Too often, employers protect workplace harassers by forcing claims out of court into a secret, private tribunal that favors companies. The Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Harassment Act advocated for by survivors at the House Judiciary’s November 16 hearing represents a positive step forward in the fight to end forced arbitration by stopping this practice.
The harm that the individuals in November’s hearing have suffered as a result of forced arbitration illustrates the need for Congress to also protect victims of racial, disability, and sexual orientation discrimination, wage theft, widespread consumer scams, and much more. That protection can only come through the passage of the FAIR Act – which would end forced arbitration for everyone – as quickly as possible.”
