Public Justice Statement on Re-Introduction of the FAIR Act

Today, in response to Congress’s reintroduction of the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act, Public Justice released the following statement:

“Public Justice applauds Rep. Hank Johnson and Sen. Richard Blumenthal for reintroducing both House and Senate versions of the FAIR Act, which seeks to end the secretive and rigged practice of forced arbitration and ensure the courthouse doors remain open for everyone.

Today’s re-introduction of the FAIR Act in both Chambers reflects the overwhelming popular support among voters from both parties to preserve consumers’ and workers’ power to choose when it comes to holding their employers and corporations accountable for wrongdoing without being forced into private and biased legal proceedings that stack the deck against them the moment they sign on the dotted line.

It’s time to end the practice of fine-print bullying and preserve Americans’ fundamental right to hold bad actors accountable through the civil justice system. We urge lawmakers to swiftly pass the FAIR Act to ensure a fair and transparent justice system that works for all.”
