Public Justice Statement Applauding House Passage of the FAIR Act

In response to the House of Representatives’ passage of the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act (H.R. 963) today, Public Justice released the following statement:

Today’s bipartisan vote by the House to end forced arbitration reflects a growing realization among voters that these agreements are not just harmless fine print in some consumer contracts, but represent a sweeping attempt by corporations to lock the courthouse doors.

A majority of both Republican and Democratic voters support giving workers and consumers a choice when it comes to seeking justice for wrongdoing. Now it is up to the Senate to take similar action and pass the FAIR Act, too. Ensuring our courts are open to everyone should not be a partisan issue, but a fundamental promise from lawmakers to the constituents they serve.
